Things to know
Al-Queria
is a "no children zone" and is for adults to enjoy the
peace and quiet....
The cortijo is surrounded by rural land so farmers occasionally
use tractors and machinery to tend their crops, keep chickens
and other animals. All just part of the rural charm.....
We are situated on a well constructed, rural track about 300
metres from a good tarmac road.
You may arrive at any time but we may need until 4:00pm to get
Al-Queria ready for you. On the day of departure, please leave
Al-Queria by 10:00am.
We have friendly, obedient (and quiet !) dogs plus two friendly
cats. Please let us know if you have any particular aversion to
pets.
We have 2 basic mountain bikes available for your use at your
own risk and we do make a "mileage" charge for recoveries........
We consider that a car is essential to get the most from your
visit and we recommend that you hire a car from the airport
for the duration of your stay.

Accommodation
After 7 days, we will clean Al-Queria and change the bedding,
linen, etc.. We will do additional cleaning at your request for
a small charge.
All of the windows are fitted with netting to minimise mosquitoes,
midges and other flying beasts.
Our water is from municipal mains supply via filters and storage
tanks to maintain availability. The electric supply is by public
mains and is usually reliable.
Al-Queria cottage is strictly no smoking inside but you are welcome
to smoke outside on the patio or in the garden.
Access and restricted mobility
Al-Queria cottage has floors at various levels and stairs which
are steeper than usual. Outside, the patios are at various levels
and the pool is accessed via steps. Our accommodation is not suitable
for wheelchair users.
Please let us know if you feel that any disability may affect
your enjoyment or safety here as we would be delighted to advise
you.
Our pool is 6 metres long by 3.50 metres wide and the depth shelves
from 1.20 to 1.80 metres. The steps are moulded into the shallow
end.
We occasionally use the pool ourselves but will not intrude on
your privacy.
| Health and Emergencies
Pharmacies in Spain provide a high level of medical advice as well
as supplying a wide range of drugs and treatments but you should
bring any continuing or prescription medication with you.
There is a medical centre with a doctor who speaks a little English
in Algarinejo, 15 minutes drive from Cortijo La Charneca.
Serious emergencies are dealt with by referral to the relevant
hospital in Granada city which is an hour away.
Cortijo La Charneca is some distance from immediate emergency treatment,
we recommend that you arrange comprehensive travel insurance to
provide cover for medical expenses, loss of possessions and for
cancellation of your plans. This should include an international
emergency telephone number with multi-lingual operators to ensure
that you get any help immediately.
In the event of an emergency, we will try to assist you as much
as we can but our Spanish language is somewhat limited so even we
may struggle to get immediate action from the emergency services.
Remember to bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each
member of your party |
