Al-Queria traditional holiday cottage for a couple in Andalucia, inland Spain

Al-Queria cottage is an original, century old, Andalusian farm house and is totally self-contained with it's own private patio near to the swimming pool and garden.

The patio faces south with views over hills and valleys and has a shaded arbour where you can have breakfast in the morning sunshine or dine in the cool of the evening.

We have fully restored Al-Queria to provide traditionally styled, holiday cottage accommodation blended with modern facilities.

The Bedroom

The romantic Arabian Nightsbedroom has a king size bed (2.00 x 1.60 metres), with a good quality, comfortable mattress and bed linen, ceiling fan, wardrobe, drawers and a convector heater.

Wake up to birdsong and eye opening views across the valley in the morning with no passing traffic or late returning holidaymakers to disturb you at night.

The Bathroom

The Arabic style bathroom with shower over a bath, washbasin, a large mirror with good lighting, a hair dryer, power points and an extractor fan.

There is a radiator under the towel rail and we supply towels, pool towels and bath robes.

There is also a separate shower room and toilet adjacent to the swimming pool, just a few steps from Al-Queria.

The Kitchen

The fully equipped kitchen has a gas cooker, grill and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, a full compliment of utensils, cutlery and tableware and a cooker extraction hood.

We love food so we have included everything you need to prepare anything from a simple snack to a sophisticated meal......

Everything you need for a proper, self catering holiday.

There is also a table and chairs if you wish to eat inside.

The large, built -in barbecue is under a shaded area in the garden.

The Sitting Room

The comfortable, "Al-Andalus" styled sitting room has, a sofa, coffee table, T. V. and DVD player, wood burning stove, good lighting and a ceiling fan.

There is a selection of DVD titles, books and board games to help keep you amused.

The Private Patio

The private patio has a table and chairs under a weatherproof shade, an open area with two relaxer chairs, plants and flowers.

It is hidden from the main cortijo behind a wall and plant covered trellis.

The patio leads directly to the garden and swimming pool which is not overlooked by the house.

The Garden

The garden has great views of the surrounding hills and valleys and eventually blends into the olive grove surrounding the house.

There is plenty of space to stretch out and relax with many sun beds, chairs and shaded areas to choose or you can bask in the sun on the pool terrace.

The ancient , stone threshing circle, from the days when cereals were grown here on terraces, is beyond the garden awaiting restoration. It has mule feeding troughs under the shade of a huge oak tree where the beasts would be tethered until they were ready to draw the grain crushing sled around the cobbled surface.

Regular breezes ensured that the crushed grain could be winnowed and today, these breezes help to keep you cool under the Andalusian sun....

Our friends, Domingo and Loli maintain our olive trees surrounding the house, in traditional, "low tech" fashion.

The Exclusive Pool

The swimming pool has an elevated, sunny terrace with fabulous views over the distant hills but is not overlooked from the house.

There is an outside shower, hand rail for the steps into the pool and an adjacent shower room (with hot and cold water), toilet and hand basin.

The sunny pool terrace faces south and west and there is a shaded gazebo in the garden with a built in barbecue.

We also supply plenty of silly little things like walking sticks, umbrellas (!), cool box for shopping or picnics, parasols for trips, maps, guides, floats for the pool, etc..
