Finca in Andalucia, Spain
“La
Charneca de los agras” is our olive finca, situated in the hills
near to the mountain village of Algarinejo in Granada province, Andalucia.
The cortijo sits on 3 hectares of land with over 300 olive, almond and
protected holm oaks. Next to the farmhouse is an ancient, stone cobbled,
threshing circle or "era" which was last used decades ago when
the farm grew grain. The era is protected as being of historical interest
and we will restore it in the fullness of time.
We have started the long process of change to farm the land of the finca and it's crops ecologically. The benefits so far are a considerable increase in wildlife and a re-balancing of plant life towards the natural and indigenous species of the area.
We
are aiming to create an oasis of calm, away from the hustle and bustle
of modern life.
La Charneca is a very old, stone built farmhouse that has been extended over the years to suit the changing needs of it's previous owners who worked the land. Upstairs is a vaulted, beamed loft which was a store for grain, feed and the preserved produce of the farm. This will be converted to a guest room for family, friends and visitors with our own accommodation on the ground floor. The original stone built house of four rooms will be restored to form a finca cottage in simple rural, Spanish style.

We are completing the restoration and conversion work using traditional methods to maintain its character, carefully blended with up-to-date services.
We are aiming to have accommodation available for our friends, family and visitors from mid-2006.

During Spring and Autumn, the weather is usually mild with sunny days, cool evenings so sightseeing, walking, cycling, or just relaxing in the warm sun is perfect during these seasons. During the summer, the sun shines almost every day, the swimming pools are open, there is regular entertainment in the pueblos and the night life can carry on until dawn. |
